Anil Kumble was appointed as the Head Coach of the Indian Cricket Team in June 2016. His focus was on increasing the bowling strength of India. He played vital role in preparing the team for the ICC Champions Trophy held in England in 2017. In all the major series he was well up with his strategies for the team.

A former Indian cricketer and captain, A right-arm leg spin (leg break googly) bowler, he took 619 wickets in Test cricket matches and remains the third-highest wicket taker of all time (as of 2017, behind Muttiah Muralitharan and Shane Warne). He was nicknamed “Jumbo”. Kumble was selected as the Cricketer of the Year in 1993 Indian Cricket, and three years later he was honored as the Wisden Cricketers of the Year.
